Ending Asthma vs. Cold vs. Flu Problems before they start. Asthmatics could have a serious challenge next flu season! Get a free asthma vs. cold vs. flu manual/guide.

Learn the Best Way People with Asthma can End the Cold vs. Swine Flu before THEY start.

Next flu season, people with asthma should avoid the flu like Superman avoids kryptonite.
History and good sense tells us that. Many times, worldwide flu outbreaks get worst as time goes on. The second/third years are more deadly. A British expert named John Oxford said "The worst isn't in the first year, but in the second and third." He was talking to world leaders at a conference on 21st century influenza. The article was “The second and Third years are the worst.” Some experts say their research shows that the swine flu is the record-breaking 1918 Spanish flu with a hat on.

It has 95%+ of the 1918 Spanish flu traits. That flu outbreak killed up to 50/100 million. Therefore, the swine flu has great breeding. When it needs to change, it should have no problem becoming more of a challenge. It has already made a few changes that could cause much trouble for us. There are mutations that show a low reaction to the vaccine. Also, there are changes in the germ that show a low reaction to our top drugs that fight the virus. The low reaction means that the vaccine/drugs will likely not work on the new strains.

The latest news shows some key flu action in Colombia. You need to watch out for news that shows a raise in flu deaths to cases. This means that your chances of having severe/fatal problems rise. The article Colombia: Bogota stays alert due to increased cases of A/H1N1 flu. Click here/Google the key words for more. Also, notice the buzz around these key words.  This plus a few more examples will help you prepare for the next flu season. From the first reported case in Bogotá, they had 1,744 infections with 74 deaths that’s 4.2% of the cases died. This was according to the department of Health the National Institute of Health confirmed 3,900 cases with 243 deaths or 6.2%.

Update: On June 15th, 2010 there were 16 deaths and 201 cases reported in Kerala. That’s a total of 8% of the cases died. See the article Spurt in swine flu deaths in Kerala, health ministry to send team.

These numbers are huge. The record breaking 1918 Spanish flu had an average 2.5 % of the world’s populace who died. Some areas were as high as 5%+. The experts need to study the situation to find out why the numbers are so high. But, these numbers do not look good. I hope that the experts will have some reasons for the high numbers. Also, another article Costa Rica: 310 H1N1 cases, 12 deaths in 2010 in the first 5 months of the year. That is 3.9% of the total cases. These numbers are much higher than the .5% up to 1% reported in the first flu wave.

The bottom line is the next flu season probably will be more of a challenge.

If you have asthma, you have the top-risk of severe/fatal problems. The normal flu infects your nose/throat/sinuses. Any infection in this area could cause big problems for people with asthma. Even a mild case could cause big problems. People with asthma are 8% of the populace in the U.S. However, 30%/40% of those who are hospitalized with the swine flu has asthma. That means that they have a 3.75 to five time’s greater chance of needing a hospital.

The swine flu has strains that attack the lungs. Many things could trigger the swelling of airways in people with asthma. This of course reduces their breathing ability. The triggers include:
    1.    Tobacco smoke
    2.    Viruses
    3.    Bacteria
    4.    Excess mucus
    5.    Pollen
    6.    Pet allergens
    7.    Cockroach allergens
    8.    Dust mites
    9.    Mold
    10.    Air pollution
    11.    Auto exhaust
    12.    Depending on you many more

All of the triggers could cause an event that leads to problems. The trigger could cause rapid swelling/narrowing of airways. Mucus may form to protect the tissue. It may not be able to leave the area due to the closing of the passages. This might lead to pneumonia.

The swine flu is the trigger that could create a huge problem! As I said before, the 2nd/3rd years of a flu global outbreak are normally the most severe. That being said, many experts will expect the worst COMING AROUND THE CORNER. However, the world expects a mild flu season. The fact is people will react slowly to reports about severe/fatal flu cases. The CDC/WHO plus others will likely take a few months to figure out the numbers.

If you wait for the facts, you could catch the virus. The key point is to look for a raise in the number of deaths compared to the number of cases. If this number is higher than expected, figure that 30%/40% of those are people with asthma. Also, the flu season will be much more of a challenge.

    Cytokine Storm:

This highly fatal event occurs when the immune system over reacts at the point of disease. Our white blood cells see the germ first. This immune response will send many defenders to the site of disease. They do not want the germ to gain control of the area.

Some strains of the swine flu could cause more immune cells to go to the infection site than needed. It seems the germ is using our immune system to work against us.

The cytokine storm comes about when wave after wave of immune cells attack the germ. It ends up swelling the area around the infection. Extreme swelling could block airways. This could cause permanent lung damage. In the worst case, a long storm could stop breathing completely.

Pneumonia that may follow flu can trigger a cytokine storm.

Many experts claim that there are no bulletproof ways to avoid the swine flu. I also, believe this for people who are in the wrong place at the right time. I know there are ways to end it before it starts. I can virtually guarantee you will not catch the virus. You must however, follow the system exactly.

They did it in 1918. And anything they did in 1918 we can do better now. In fact, we can do anything better now than they did then. The key is you must stay away from people. And you need to live in a self-imposed quarantine with-a-twist. Some private schools had ruthless quarantine rules in 1918 that had no one catch the germ.

Control the cold vs. Flu Before it starts: Controlling a flu vs. cold before it starts means you may have to stay away from others. Free 165 pages interactive/multimedia controlling the flu vs. cold manual!

You can control a flu vs. cold with a self-imposed quarantine!

There are signs that point to the next flu season being much more of a challenge. The swine flu has replaced the seasonal flu. So, the seasonal flu is now the swine flu. Recently, there were signs that Tamiflu would not work as well. Tamiflu is our number one drug that lowers flu problems. If Tamiflu does become less effective, it will mean more people will need to control the flu before it starts.

Ten sequences/samples from Korea/Japan patients showed nine had H274Y. H274Y shows a low reactor to Tamiflu. That means Tamiflu most likely will not control it. There are mutations that could give us problems. Click here for more facts.

A huge decision maker will be the numbers. How bad will the next flu wave get? If the next wave is the same as the first two, many people will do what they did before. However, the more severe the next wave is, the more we all must get serious about how to protect ourselves.

I have a friend that will be having her baby in November. She could have her child in the middle of a severe flu wave. The next flu wave could start before/during/after. The flu is most dangerous to pregnant women in the third semester. That is the last three months of her pregnancy. You have to plan on what you are going to do. Otherwise, you will just react to whatever happens with poor decisions.

This also applies to people who are in the high-risk groups.

Other than getting your flu shot.  The best way to control the cold vs. flu before it starts is by far a self-imposed quarantine. The people who should go into this room are as follows:

    1. The breadwinner (He or she goes out in public for the family/group). They do this to make money, buy supplies, pick up medical items, etc. The room protects the family from this person.

    2. A person who is at high-risk of having severe/fatal problems if they catch the flu. The room protects the person in the room from the group/family that go out in the public. This would be during a bad but not severe flu wave.

    3. A family member/anyone who is not living with you at the time who wants to live there with you. That person must past the test first. That test is they do not show any flu like symptoms for at least a week before they can join the group.

If the person is, high-risk they need to treat all others like they have the flu. A mild case of the flu to a non high-risk person, could be fatal to the person at high-risk.

High-risk people must stay away from people. That also includes family. The tips below are for those at high-risk of severe/fatal problems during a bad/severe flu wave.

    1.    The idea is to stay away from others in the house. The at-risk person should stay alone in a special room when others are at home.
    2.    That person should wear safety gloves while in the house.
    3.    They should not wash contaminated clothes. They should stay in their room for at least 1 hour after everyone has left.
    4.    The use of an air-cleansing unit would be wise.
    5.    All of their pets should stay in the house at all times. The pet could pick up the germ outside.
    6.    The at-risk person could fix the meals.
    7.    However, it would be risky for someone else to fix the meals for them.
    8.    They should wear a facemask while in the living area.
    9.    No matter how bad you want to touch a friend, do not period.  That is one of the most important rules.

The woman that might be having a Baby during the Height of the Next Flu season is PRECIOUS!

Wait, all your close friends are special, right. You want them around, right. Are you the high-risk person? On the other hand, do you have a high-risk child/mother/father/sister/brother/friend that are precious to you?  If you are the high-risk person, I bet you think you are precious. Do not just flip a coin and hope for the best. Take action and get a FREE 165 pages interactive/ multimedia manual that can easily/quickly help you learn how to control the flu vs. the cold before it starts. High-risk people include:
    1.    Pregnancy
    2.    Children under 5 years of age
    3.    People with cardiovascular disease
    4.    People with asthma
    5.    People with diabetes
    6.    People who are immunosuppressant,
    7.    And several other conditions

You will have to decide which level of how to control the flu best fits you. That will depend on how bad the flu gets. Follow http://flustop.blogspot.com for updates. Beware of other websites/blogs that copy this site. You can also get a free newsletter that will let you know about all things that are swine flu related. You will not have to stay in isolation for a year. You could stay in isolation for as long as the flu is in your area. Go to Google flu trends, to see what the intensity of the flu wave is in your area.

Caring for a loved one is not as easy as it sounds. Everyone should have some form of quarantine plan for their home. Even if you are outside the house every day, you still need to protect yourself from other people. You cannot let anyone into the house because you do not know where they have been.  If you let sick relatives into your home, you need to prepare a quarantine room and have all the needed tools to care for that person. You do not want to infect the rest of the family. Especially, if you have a high-risk person in your home, you must be careful.

The type of quarantine you decide to use will depend on how severe the flu wave gets.

    A.    The most secure is a total ruthless quarantine. That is when nobody leaves the house for any reason. You would need people to deliver supplies. Some schools/academies did this in 1918. They did not have anyone catch the germ in the world’s worst flu outbreak ever.

    B.    The next best thing is when one person leaves the house for work/supplies. That person would have to stay in an isolation room. This would be to protect the family from the germ.

    C.    The third most secure would be a room for a high-risk person. In this case the room would be made to protect the person at high-risk from family/friends. The person at high-risk would stay away from people in public and at home. This would last as long as the flu was active in your area.

    D.     The last way to stop the flu is to go out as usual but use good safety habits.

In a perfect world, everyone gets ready ahead of time. We would have our room checked by our doctor/expert. However, in the real world, many of us will need to get by with our best effort. We must make sure our room that protects us meets a few goals. They include:

    1.    The isolation from should have only one purpose.
    2.    The bedroom should have a private bathroom within the bedroom. If not the person inside the room should use their own bathroom.
    3.    The room should have drinkable water, electricity, and a telephone, a source of heat, a/c, a sink, and toilet.
    4.    There should be garbage collection/ and awareness of contamination.
    5.    Do not forget sewage disposal, which could include normal sewage disposal methods like a community sewage line or a septic tank.
    6.    Contaminated clothing needs cleaning away from the others. Extreme care in the handling with protective gloves and mask should occur.
    7.    Provide food for the occupant daily. (High-risk people can prepare their own food when no one else is home.)
    8.    Make sure the occupant has enough mental stimulation like access to the internet, television, a radio, reading materials, games, et cetera.
    9.    Make sure there is no hugging or physical contact with occupant while the flu is in the area.  Anyone caring for the occupant and the occupant themselves needs the appropriate safety equipment and they include:

    1. Goggles to protect the eyes
    2. A facemask
    3. Protective latex or vinyl exam gloves
    4. Coveralls or a protective apron to protect against splash
    5. Hand hygiene supplies
    6. Tissues
    7. Head covering
    8. People should know that the virus could get into the home through tracking on shoes. If a person works, wash the right kind of shoes daily.

All the air from an isolation room must stay inside the room and not mix with any of the air in the rest of the house. This is a big problem. We solve it by making a negative pressure room.

We need the air to flow in one direction only. That would be under the door into the room. We do this through ventilation control. The secret is to make more air exit the room than comes in the room. Experts call it an offset. You can get more information on this in the free how to control the flu vs. cold before it starts manual.

The free guide also includes tips on getting the air to flow from the room to the house. It also shows you how to get the airflow from the house to the room. Plus tips on how single people could handle the quarantine by themselves. Call 719-237-1167 now!

End The Cold vs. Flu before it starts: Mental aspects of ending a Cold vs. Flu before it begins. Free How to End the flu or cold Manual.

Ending the Cold vs. Flu before, it starts means you must Change Your HABITS!

Knowing what to do and doing what you are supposed to do are two different things! Especially when you must break a deeply ingrained habit, first to do what you are supposed to do. For example, if you know not to shake hands, try not doing that with a close friend you have not seen in a while. People, will get insulted when you turn them down. However, if you are ready you can do something else that will work. During a bad flu wave, people will soon understand that shaking hands is a no no. therefore; you should have a list of good safety hygiene habits to replace the bad habits you have. Bad hygiene habits will expose you to the germ. Most people trying to end the cold vs. flu before it begins do not understand this.

They think because you can score 100% correct answers on a test that tells you what you should do, that you will actually break those habits that you may have been doing your entire life. IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, YOU ARE STILL GOING TO DO WHAT YOU NORMALLY DO EVERYDAY!

Changing Habits to End the Flu vs. cold:

Habits are things you do without thinking. You do not know when a habit will cause you to do the wrong things. That is the problem. You could catch the germ doing things you knew were wrong. Your habits will not go away unless you do specific things to end them.

Let us say your habit caused you to accept a ride with a group of friends. Once inside the car you realized it was full of people coughing. Bang, this could be the ultimate mistake! YOU HAVE NOWHERE TO RUN! However, quickly you come to your senses and make an excuse to get out of the car (ASAP).

Great Performers like dancers, musicians, athletes, etc. understand what it takes to learn and break habits. I used to be a very good karate fighter in the Chuck Norris stable of fighters. This was after his fighting days and before his acting days. He was a seven-time world karate champion. Many of his fighters were the best in the country. I learned how to teach very good fighters with the methods that he taught. Some of those concepts are in my free 165 pages interactive and multimedia How to end the flu vs. cold before it starts manual.

In karate, you learn to respond the way you want even under great stress. You will do this by repeating it daily. This concept is not new. In fact, thousands of years ago, Aristotle said. "WE ARE WHAT WE REPEATEDLY DO. EXCELLENCE THEN, IS NOT AN ACT, BUT A HABIT." When we know a bad flu season is coming, the key is to learn these key habits as quickly as possible. Learn what you need to know to end your bad habits and create good hygiene habits.

Once you start the program, soon you will not have to think about what you need to do as much. Your habit will do the heavy lifting for you. You do not want to have to think about what to do. A habit works automatically. Many people will have a race against time. It takes about 21 days to change deeply ingrained habits. You do not want to create these habits once the flu is here infecting millions of people. A good example is not touching your face with your hands. Yes, you should not touch your face with your hands. Because the germ could finds its way to your ears, mouth, eyes, and nose where it could get easy access. Do you know how many people scratch their heads with their nails? Those scratches could allow easy access. However, if you have a system that handles that habit and you practice it every day, you can break the bad habit. Wow, you can do what you intend to do because you will do it daily.

You should not shake anyone’s hands during a severe swine flu wave. If you did not know this, you know it now. Hands are like sponges they pick up many germs. That is why we all must wash our hands frequently. Try not to shake hands with people for a week. Even though you know you are not suppose to do it. Because it a deeply ingrained habit you will not be able to resist. You could learn a substitute habit to replace it.

Things you could do to help you break/create habits.

    1. Write down the date you will be able to score 100% on your test. This includes daily scenarios as well as the way you act during the day. You should be able to respond the way you want to respond by this date. The date should be at least 21 days from the time you start.

    2. Write down why you need to master this. Many people cannot break habits due to lack of motivation. If you got into trouble in the Air Force, they used to say, “Send that guy to motivation” which meant jail. Obviously, you do not want to catch a deadly flu. However, be exact, why do you not want to catch the flu. For example, I do not want to catch the flu because; my daughter who has asthma might catch it from me. I know that she could have severe/fatal problems if she catches the flu. A mild flu to me may be severe to someone else in the family. We all must control our habits for the sake of everyone else.

    3. Do your flu habit training in the same place and at the same time if possible. This will get you on a routine.

    4. Maintain a positive attitude. Sometimes at the start, you will feel like you are not improving. Think to yourself, “as long as I am trying as hard as I can, that is enough to have a good day”. Life is funny sometimes; you can have 5 days in a row where it may seem like you are not improving. However, on the sixth day you could improve greatly. The key is to try as hard as you can and you will be fine. When people ask me how I am doing, I always say I am doing great/good. Because, the way I look at it over the last 30 days most times things are going in the right direction. I do not let one bad day or a few bad days bother me. I average the last 30 days and come up with overwhelming success in what I am trying to do. Therefore, I always have a good day.

    5. Reward yourself with little things. When you achieve things that are important, treat yourself. While in college, my business law instructor used to say all work and no play makes______ a sad person. I never forgot that. Therefore, whenever, I reach a minor goal, I reward myself a little. For example, I love going to the movies, or maybe something nice to eat, or buying a book that I want to read.

    6. The world is full of negative people who want to bring you down! Do not let anyone poison your thoughts with negative talk.

    7. Talk to yourself. When I was growing up people would say,” If you talk to yourself, you are probably crazy.” I beg to differ. Just do not talk too loud and answer your own questions aloud. It is important to motivate yourself. Everyone talks to themselves. When you talk to yourself, do so with a positive voice. For example, say things similar to I was able to do a few things that I wanted to do. Although I am not yet where I want to be, I will improve. I washed my hands they way I should have. Do not talk to yourself in the negative. For example, do not say I was stupid today. I could not get anything right. I was in a hurry. Make sure you seek out the good things to rally around.

Flu pandemic history shows that many worldwide outbreaks start slow. However, later they become more deadly. Watch this blog http://flustop.blogspot.com to stay informed about important flu issues.
